I highly recommend continuing up past the saddle (the area that leads out to an overlook of Leavenworth) for at least another mile or two. Great views of the Enchantment peaks, and then if you go further, Mt Stuart and Cashmere; wish I'd brought my camera along. There is very little snow until you get about 2 miles beyond the saddle. A few blowdowns along the way but very easy to get past. After about 2 or 3 miles beyond the saddle, the trail is completely snow covered. And at the moment, the snow condition beyond is pretty decent, not frozen solid and not much postholing. Easy open terrain up on top of the ridge and not too brushy, more tundra-like. The trail itself looks in good shape where it's not covered in snow. I didn't see anyone past the saddle, but quite a few people below.
