Trip Report

Ira Spring Trail - Mason Lake — Sunday, May. 15, 2016

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Mason Lake is almost completely thawed out
There is barely any snow left on the trail to Mason Lake, but there are a few trees down across the trail and some of them require a little effort to get past (nothing difficult or dangerous though). As we made our way along the lakeshore, we came upon a campsite that was littered with trash. Food wrappers, plastic bags, cardboard boxes, dental floss, a tent gear bag, a metal cooking rack and even a plastic clamshell container for a new "pocket AM/FM radio". It looked like someone had thrown most of these things into the bushes down the hillside, toward the lake. It was a pretty upsetting sight. We picked up everything we could find and packed it out with us. I combed through it all when I got home to see if I could find any way to identify the owners but couldn't find anything. If you did this, I really hope you get eaten by bears. Big, strong, merciless bears with an appetite for humans and justice.
A few trees down across the trail just before the lake
Good looking bridge

Merciless, man-eating, eco-vigilante bears!

Kewl! Can we all watch and cheer from a safe distance? :-)
... and on behalf of hundreds who will never know, thanks for takin' out the trash.
