Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410

For those thinking of hiking Federation Forest, beware that there have been huge windstorm and landslide damage on both sides of 410 making it impossible to do the trail loop on the west side of the park at least on the south side, but I think also on the north side. This is not a single spot issue. Driving in on 410 one notices immediately that there is a lot more light entering the forest in many locations due to this damage. Not something that will be fixed anytime soon I fear.
