Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Looks like someone put a stick of tnt at the base of this thing!
Camped at Cooper Lake after work on Sunday night. Found a nice backcountry spot right on the lake, not in the campground. Weather was perfect, bugs were definetely an annoyance. Hit the trail towards Pete Lake at 7am the next morning. Was smooth easy sailing for the first 2 miles until the Alpine Lakes boundary then its blow down city! Definitely more work than the normal hike to Pete Lake. Made it to Pete Lake by 930, had a snack and decided to try and make it to Spectacle Lake despite mixed trip reports. The creek at the "ford" was very high, even bursting its normal banks. I might have been down to roll up my pants, put on my river sandals and go for it, if it wasnt cold and rainy. Not sure my dog coulda made that swim either. So we headed towards the bridge route to see if crossing would be possible there. Needless to say the bridge is out and the creek is raging there as well. So we headed up the Pacific Crest in the other direction towards Summit Chief Mountain. Ran into some really nasty weather this way so we just turned around and headed back to Pete Lake. Shortly after the weather caught up to us there as well, and instead of camping in the rain at a lake that ive been to a half dozen times we decided to just head for the car. All in all about 15 miles of hiking in a lil under 10 hours with very few breaks! Was great to sleep in my own bed last night and not a wet sleeping bag tho!
