We hiked this only up to the Tunnel Creek shelter. The trail was in great condition, though at around the two mile point there is a large fallen tree you need to navigate around. It is a delightful hike through thick forrest with the sound of rushing water easily audible from the nearby creek. The ascent from the trail head is moderately steep, gaining 1100 feet in under 3 miles, but shouldn't be a problem for anyone who's even in half decent shape. The spongy trail is a pleasure to walk on.
The road to the trail head is OK, but there are a number of large pot holes you need to dodge. Our Mazda 6 made it with no problems.
