Nice little hike. The WTA directions are spot on. We arrived at the trailhead at 7:45 to only 2 other cars in the lot. The trail was a little muddy in spots, but nothing that couldn't easily be sidestepped. The trail is flat for a good mile until you reach the turnoff for the cedar butte trail (signed) on the right. It climbs steadily to the summit. Saw a beautiful patch of Indian pipe on the way. Too cloudy of a day for dramatic views, but it was nice to have a nice quiet trail to ourselves. Using the alltrails map clocked this at 4 miles, instead of 3.5 in the description.
