Trip Report

Lake Janus and Grizzly Peak — Saturday, Jul. 30, 2016

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
View to Glacier Peak from the meadow on the north side of Grizzly Peak

Smithbrook Rd had plenty of rocks, but was wide and flat. The parking lot was overflowing, with cars parked a long way down the road. The crowds thinned considerably past Union Gap. The trail was in good condition, other than a few rocky and slightly overgrown sections, and a couple of blowdowns. Grizzly Peak didn't seem like much of a summit, as it was flat and treed. There were a few spots to camp, and nice views from the surrounding meadows. No bugs to speak of. Lots of blueberries between Union Gap and Lake Janus. Didn't see any water after gaining the ridge past Lake Janus.
