Truman Trail - Pumice Plains — Sunday, Sep. 11, 2016

South Cascades > Mount St. Helens
Truman Trail-Pumice Plains by OutdorzBear
Started at the Windy Ridge trailhead and went 2.3 miles on the service road, past the junction with 216D for Loowit Trail and just to the signage for Windy Trail toward the waterfalls. Beautiful day, wish we had started earlier so we could have gone to the waterfalls. Several day and overnight hikers returning down the trail. Actually elevation-wise this segment peaks halfway through a couple hundred feet above the Windy Ridge parking lit, then descends to the end of the service road at the pumice plain. One spot on the trail was filled with water, but a well-trod detour was easy. Otherwise a smooth level and wide surface without shade or shelter from the wind.
