Tolmie Peak Lookout - Eunice Lake — Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich
almost to the lookout
The gate to Mowlich campgound is closed early this year. You'll end up parking at the Paul Peak trailhead. A couple that had been here many times showed me a bit of a short cut, basically climbing up the hill, following some game trails, about 2.5 miles down the road up to intersect the trail making the round trip about 9.5 miles. It was a workout, running in to snow up around Eunice lake, but the view at the lookout was worth it. Wasn't up there long as the winds were really picking up, it was overcast around the mountain with peeks of blue in the surrounding areas. Trail was in great shape, tho in some areas about a mile before Eunice lake the snow melt was running all over the trail itself, making some of the rocks and roots a bit slippery. I plan on returning to this one again next summer for sure.

GPS Track?

Do you have a GPS track of the route? I'd love to snowshoe it later this winter or in early spring.
