Suiattle River Trail — Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
View along the river
I hadn't hiked the Suiattle River Trail in over 35 years, so it was a real treat to return and find it even lovelier than I remembered! A perfect Fall hike.... lots of yellow coloring, lush mossy forest, and mushrooms galore! The trail was in excellent condition and the new suspension bridge is truly a work of creative engineering and art. I remember my trepidation at crossing the log (with no rail) over that creek ravine years ago. My only warning to others going here is that we had to negotiate 23 creek crossings. One in our party ended up with a soggy boot, but otherwise we did fine. All told, we hiked a little over 15 mi. RT.... to the bridge across the Suiattle on the PCT.
