Trip Report

Anderson and Watson Lakes — Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
View from the road
The drive to the trailhead is worth it on its own, with fantastic views and a trip over a scary dam. Any car can make it, but low clearance vehicles will have to take care in a few spots. I was surprised to find biting flies at the trailhead, must have been the warm temps. The trail is short and sweet, nice woods, then lovely meadows, then the lakes. Enough elevation gain for a decent workout, but not enough to tire out even a sluggish hiker like me. Advice: go, before it snows.

Slugman on Anderson and Watson Lakes

Thanks! Look for regular reports in the future. I did a lot of hiking this year, I'm sorry now that I didn't post some of those, though several were out of state. Just recently I have been to Downey creek on the Suiattle road (nice but with boot wetting stream crossings) and Lake 22 (another trail for the web footed). I also rode some of the John Wayne trail on my bike. There are a ton of new pictures on my Flickr page (www.flickr.com/photos/slugman). From places like Lookingglass lake in the Wallowas of Oregon, and Cirque of the Towers in the Wind river range of Wyoming.
