Snow/slush the last mile or two of the forest road but warm enough yet that some ground was still showing. Snow increased from there getting to 2-3 feet by the time we made it to the lake. We didn't have any real precipitation but the warm day meant plenty of dripping from the trees above us in the first few miles. The real snow started about the time we began the bigger climb in the last mile. Without trail or tracks to follow, some route finding skills were helpful. The quantity of snow slowed us down but traction devices or snowshoes were not needed. I suspect that will change soon though!
