Trip Report
Deception Pass State Park - Headlands / Rosario Head / Lighthouse Point — Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016

With our numbers depleted by two for a nose job and a trip to Hawaii, the remainder of Geezer Patrol fought off the detritus of two months of pure sloth to venture forth once more into the great outdoors. Of course, we picked a day with no rain, almost no elevation gain, a cushy trail and most importantly, a hike plan that negated having to schlep around with our backpacks. A total wussie enterprise if ever there was one.
Not many folks at the park this day which provided plenty of time to ponder the outstanding water views during the three short loop hikes in the above description. I recommend doing the Lottie Loop first as that will warm up your legs with some brief, steep stretches and provide nice views of the Deception Pass Bridge before you drop back down to cross the beach over to the Lighthouse Loop. After a brief luncheon back at the car lot, we took off for the Rosario Head loop to capture some Vitamin D as the sunball broke out enroute. A pretty sweet spot out there and all the park shelters and facilities looked to be in fine condition.
Having finally broken the ice again on our hiking, the Patrol will probably have to go seek some in the mountains without killing ourselves to improve our manliness and stamina before age starts to win over.
This is a great hike for kids, for families and for geezers of all proportions.
