Amazing mountain views once you get up to the lake
This is a fun little day hike! It's easy to get to from Seattle, and doesn't require too much of an off-road vehicle. There are some potholes on the road on the way in that are a bit deep, but if you go slow, they shouldn't be much of a problem. The first part of the hike is in the woods. There wasn't any snow until about half way up. The trail lower down was muddy, but without any big puddles. There are a few small creek crossings along the way, no more than a few inches deep. Once you get to the snowline, you'll definitely want some microspikes to make it to the lake. We saw some people in sneakers, but they were really sliding around a lot once they got into the ice/snow. We also carried our snowshoes up with us, but didn't end up needing them. The snow at the top was still very hard, so we could walk on top of it.
