Decided to get in a quick hike while there was a small break in the weather. If you can get past the gunshots in the distance (Issaquah gun range), this is a pleasant hike. Not too many people out today (I think I passed four parties of two and one solo hiker). You get a fairly consistent gain to the Fireplace. The trail itself was wet, muddy at times, with a lot of rocks (sometimes felt like I was walking in a drained creek bed). Came across 8-10 fall downs... with a couple that I had to take my pack off the get underneath. If you are looking for a somewhat quick quiet workout, this trail is for you. If you are looking for views, waterfalls, and up-and-down elevation changes, this is not the right track. I was happy I went out today and will look forward to seeing this trail in the spring.
