Trip Report
Shinglemill Creek Preserve — Tuesday, Mar. 21, 2017
Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
This is the first time I have hiked this trail as Vashon. We started at the Shinglemill trailhead and hiked to Fern Cove and back. The trail begins fairly level but quickly becomes steep as you walk down the ravine. The ups and downs of the trail in elevation change makes this a good workout. The treat is at the end of the trail at Fern Cove. Beautiful spot after you cross the road to sit (there is a bench) and relax. If you don't want to do the trek back up to the original trailhead you can park a car at Fern Cove and go one way. We did the round trip which was great. I recommend it for a nice half day or less hike on Vashon
