Palouse to Cascades Trail - Rattlesnake Lake — Saturday, Apr. 15, 2017

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

Someone recently spent a lot of time cleaning up this trail after the winter and it shows! Recent log cuts from fallen trees and bull dozer tracks and piles from pushing back slides. We totally misread the trail description and were planning on a 4 mile walk with our two old dogs and turning around at the train depot. The falls at Boetzke creek are at just over 3 miles and depot is a mile past that...oops. Turned around at the falls knowing our dogs were going to have a tough go the last mile back to the car already. Made for a 6.5 mile trek. The first mile of the trail was busy, the parking at rattlesnake was beyond full with cars lining both sides of the road from about a mile away and then down to the parking for this trail, which had tons of open spaces at the trailhead. Beautiful day, beautiful easy hike for our two old pups.
beautiful white birches under blue sky
across the valley from around the 2 mile mark
