Trip Report
Schmitz Preserve Park — Sunday, May. 7, 2017

A hidden treasure in West Seattle. There was plenty of parking on SW Stevens and the start is well marked with a sign board and entry on the right corner. We took four kids and they loved it. The trail starts on an old road that becomes trail. We stayed left at the first two forks until we came to a three way junction. We took the sharp right fork which leads back on the opposite side of the creek. After the trail drops for a while it levels out and a trail goes sharply right and crosses the creek to link up to your original trail and back to your car. If you get to the SW Admiral bridge turn around and go back. As a side note, we purposely went all the way to the bridge and looked at the graffiti. There were great old growth trees, ferns, banana slugs, woodpeckers, and some flowers here and there. There were a few muddy spots and one creek crossing but no one got feet wet.
