Having enjoyed the slab waterfalls on the Squire Creek trail, I was excited about seeing the falls of Eight Mile Creek where the first stream on the Squire Pass trail joins the confluence. All of the falls on the Squire Pass trail are trickles compared to Eight Mile Creek.
To reach the 8-mile falls, follow the directions to 3 o'clock rock using the Squire Pass directions. About a quarter mile beyond the rock, there is a stream flowing down a slab. Follow the stream steeply downhill until it joins Eight Mile Creek. The entire trip is about four miles RT with 1,300' of elevation gain. It feels longer because the bushwhack down the hill is difficult.
While climbing back to the trail from the falls, I found a group of four of the best Calypso Orchids I have ever seen. They were fresh, large, and vibrant. Note the steepness of the hill behind the orchids. There were also Bleeding Hearts, Trillium, and Yellow Violets along the trail.
I did not see another person during the entire hike, especially at Eight Mile Falls...
Half way on the road back to Mountain Loop Hwy from the TH there is a cement crossing for a stream. Up the small canyon on the left there is a nice waterfall, and there is a huge one higher up on the hill beyond. The sun was full on the waterfalls, so I will return on a cloudy day and photograph these cascades.
This outing was challenging and fun!

Directions
I believe that I am the first WTA member to hike to these falls. To reach them, hike up the Eight-mile/Squire Pass trail past 3 O'clock rock. When you reach the first creek, bushwhack downhill until the creek joins Eight Mile Creek (see pictures). It is a steep bushwhack, but it isn't far.
