Sam's River Loop (Queets Campground) — Sunday, May. 28, 2017

Olympic Peninsula > Pacific Coast

Queets Campground Loop - consistently labelled as 'Sam's River Loop Trail' by signs throughout the trail - is a fantastic example of western Olympics rainforest stroll.  It meanders through old-growth forest, grassy homestead meadows, and along the beautiful Queets River.  Signs of elk were common in the meadows, and in some places the great animals' trails could be confused for the trail itself.  We definitely got lost, but it was not too much trouble to find the trail again.  Highly recommended.
