Lewis River Falls — Saturday, Jun. 10, 2017

Southwest Washington > Lewis River Region

Started our journey at the lower falls campground and made our way about 2 miles in when the trail was detoured due to a washout. The trail that continued up led us to a beautiful bridge and falls (so it was totally worth it) then we reach the middle falls. The river was raging as we made it to the upper falls. We continued up the steep trail to the viewpoint overlooking the upper falls which I highly recommend doing. Most people seem to stop at the upper falls and don't go that extra bit for an amazing view. We managed to run into 7 people kayaking the river and watched them navigate the falls successfully, well, for the most part. One guy lost his kayak and on the way down the falls. All things considered, it was awesome. Just watch out for trees down on the trail and if you bring kids, make sure they are aware of the abrupt drop-offs that anyone could easily plummet to their death from.
