Twisp Pass — Saturday, Jun. 3, 2017

North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth

Did this hike last Saturday (6/3) and only now getting around to write a trip report. The hike is beautiful with amazing views. Highly recommended. I hit solid snow around half a mile before the pass. With GPS track and basic terrain awareness was able to reach the pass easily. I had gaiters, micro-spikes and hiking poles, but they are not absolutely needed. No other hikers around so I had the pass and the trail to myself most of the day. If you don't want to hike on snow, the hike is still recommended since you can go get high up for great views before hitting snow. The dirt road to the trail head is in good conditions suitable for all cars.

Did you find this trip report helpful?

So you didn't encounter a creek crossing on the road? The Forest Service report for the road says "Snow-free but with a new 12-14 inches deep spring run-off creek running across the road (14 inches wide) before Popular Flats Campground. Recommend high clearance vehicle or turning around to avoid getting stuck.

When I was there it was an easy crossing with my Subaru Outback. It was a very narrow stream with dirt bumps on either side.
Didn't even remember it when I was writing this trip report :-)
