This was my first time to Dog Mountain. I heard it is top notch for fields of flowers, which it is. However the poor little guys, as well as the birds we're getting blown to bits this day. I started at about 6:30 am and went up the scenic trail to the right. The weather was quite windy, and chilly. I figured the weather may improve as the day advanced. However the higher I hiked the worse the weather became. By the time I reached the flowers and ultimately the top it was 60mph wind with sustained gusts estimated to be near 80mph, (View video), with blowing fog and rain, as well as darn right cold. I descended via the normal middle trail and things really quieted down the further down I got. I love weather so I was happy, but not everyone may enjoy such a day. Challenging to say the least.
