Mount Townsend — Friday, Jun. 16, 2017

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

Awesome hike up to Mt Townsend leaving from the upper TH!

Here's my timetable and the highlights:

First one to the TH on Friday at 8:15am. Privy available, not TP tho..

.9 miles to first water feature

1 mile to "stoves only" at 3500 ft

1.3 miles to next water feature

1.5 miles leave forest canopy, enter ridgelines! (my favorite!)

2.65 miles to Camp Windy (I think..? I saw no signage, but several clear areas that looked "camp-like"

3.1 miles to Silver Lakes Jct -- 1 hr and 38 minutes

4.2 miles to summit (maybe? the summit was completely socked in.. I went as far as I could go before it looked like the trail leveled off and continued further to meet #835) -- 2 hr and 22 minutes

Back to TH at 12:30pm -- 13 cars in the lot at that point, maybe room for 2 more.

Even with all the fog this trail was beautiful! So well maintained, easy to hike, wildflowers blooming everywhere, rhodis just starting to bloom, waterfalls, alpine meadows, etc.

We had the trail to ourselves the entire first leg -- on the way back, passed several groups going up. All very courteous hikers!

Can't wait to come back on a clear day!

Flame red wildflowers!
Juno at the summit
Waterfalls!
