The weather was perfect for this easy 8 mile hike. The trail is in really good condition, we heard elk, saw trace of elk but not the elks themselves. The trail around devil's elbow is "closed" or at least has a warning that it is not in that good of a condition, so we took the newly made trail which was great, seems like you get the same mileage. Roads are fine, we ended up going up the mountain the same time the Tour the Blast was going on, but even with all the bikes on the road there was plenty at parking and space. Definitely a hike you should do for the views and could easily bring children. Wild flowers are amazing right now.
