Trip Report

Esmeralda Basin (Esmerelda) — Sunday, Jun. 25, 2017

Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
Lake Ann

Did a two day backpack through Esmerelda Basin to Lake Ann and beyond. Mostly snow free and absolutely gorgeous. Lake Ann is almost completely thawed out with patchy snow around it. The campsites are snow free and delightfully free of people (and bugs). I only saw one other couple in the area even though the weather was perfect and it should have been a busy summer weekend. I guess they were all over at Lake Ingalls. This is just as pretty.

Thank you!! I have been wondering about Lake Ann and hoping someone would post soon. It's one of my favorite quiet spots. :-)

I added a picture of Lake Ann. The last of the snow should be gone in a matter of days.

Hiking Buddies on Esmeralda Basin (Esmerelda)

Is the road open to the Esmerelda Trailhead? The Forest Service site says it's still inaccessible. What kind of shape is the trail in?

Closes about a mile before the trailhead due to washouts and undermining. Road is good before that.
