Took this hike just as far as Twin Lakes. The road and trail are both totally passable - my MINI cooper made it up with no problems (although keep your eyes open because there is one nasty stretch of deep washboarding).
BEAR GRASS GALORE! And some lovely lupine to keep your spirits up that first 1.5 miles. Any snow on the trail really isn't worth mentioning it's so close to being gone.
Trail is in good shape with a couple of blow downs. The gravel on dirt on the way down is pretty slick - I was glad to have my hiking pole on numerous occasions to save my fall. BUGS were out in serious force, and I have half a dozen of what I think are fly bites.
Beautiful views of Rainier before you duck into the forest. This is such a charming trail, I always forget how demoralizing the first mile is.
