This was a really fun and easy outing. Very family friendly as long as you don't mind getting a little dirty.
Here is some info that may be helpful:
You will need the two passes mentioned above $10 for Makah and $8 per person per night for Olympic National park. The parking lot at trail head is only for day parking. The over night parking is 1/2 mile from trail head in a private yard. This is $10 per day, cash only. The trail is really muddy. The switchbacks are steep but totally doable. Make sure you are going down the rope assisted switchback that starts at end of trail where registration/info post is. There is another rope assisted descent at the first look out point. This looked a little precarious and takes you to the cove on north end of beach. It seems easier to access this area once down. The best water source is the 3rd one down closest to Point of Arches. The further down you go the more access to wood and easier to get to "toilets". There is one toilet right after you get off switchbacks. It is seriously right beside the trail. More power to anyone who has been brave enough to use it. The tide table doesn't seem to be a concern if you are not going beyond the Point of Arches but I do wish we had known better when low tide would be. It opens up so much more area to explore. If you are wanting a fire, bring fire starter. Most of the drift would is pretty damp. We did not have cell coverage once we were outside of Port Angeles. There are a few places where you could use a hammock. If you are in Edmonds waiting for the ferry the Waterfront Coffee Company has great food and drinks. Happy Adventuring!
