Ashland Lakes — Monday, Jul. 25, 2016

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Ashland Lakes by minelsonlkg
The road in was pretty rough but we didn't struggle in our Suburban. Trail and campsites were in great condition. Very few mosquitos but some very pesky big flies were persistent until dark and then in the daytime. Bug repellent didn't deter them so they were constantly buzzing around our heads. No bug bites but the big flies were a real annoyance. Lakes are pretty but boggy along the shoreline making it tough to get water to filter and making any wading/swimming difficult (we didn't try) We had fun but will probably look for other lakes where it's easy to access for swimming and fetching water.
