Rampart Ridge Loop — Wednesday, Jul. 26, 2017

A beautiful hike through the woods. Only one view of Mount Rainier (as the description notes) but it's a spectacular one.  I hiked it with my 3 yo and 6 yo and they loved it, though it took quite a bit of coaxing to get them up the switchbacks. It's also a longer hike than noted in the trail summary. It's 4.9 miles from the start of the Rampart Ridge hike and then back to Longmire, so with the little bit of Trail of the Shadows, it's probably about a 5 mile hike.  With little ones and a ton of breaks to get us up the steepest sections, it took us about 6 hours.  My kiddos definitely earned their sundaes at Longmire!
