On a clear day, the view makes all the miles of steep climb worth it. We had good views N and W, but Rainier remained stubbornly partly shrouded in clouds. There were a few snow patches that were still hanging on, but nothing difficult to cross. Saw a total of 3 people/1 dog returning from overnights and 6 dayhikers out on the trail. It took us about 3 hours up and 2 1/4 down. Lots of columbine, fireweed, and more on the open hillsides.
