My son and I chose this for our hike due to the shorter distance and the views. The road was much better than expected from other reports. I have a Subaru Impreza and was able to pass everything. One spot looked worse than it was. Tons of pot holes.
We were the only ones there up and back. The hike is steep but doable. No mosquitos, but the flies and/or wasps/bees flew around our heads a few times. Annoying, but not overwhelming.
The view at the top was gorgeous. Well worth the hike. We couldn't see Mt Rainier due to haze, but got to see everything else.
The summit is pretty small, but can accommodate 10-12 people. We had it to ourselves.
I hiked everything with my poles, but my son did it without. The last hill in the trail requires using the wire that it present, so I recommend putting the poles away for that one.
