Blue Lake — Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

This was a moderate hike with beautiful views. We left La Conner about 7:00 and after a couple pit stops and some slow cars, we arrived at the trail head at 9:30. At that point there were only a couple spots left to park. This seems to be a popular trail and since it was a Saturday there were a lot of people out enjoying. If you're not into crowds plan to go very early or on a weekday. The smoke and haze weren't as bad as I feared thankfully. The trail was very dusty and you're going to want bug spray on this one. The lake was beautiful! There are lots of areas to explore near the lake and we were able to carve out some private space even with all the people out there. We logged just under 6 miles. When we left around 1:30, the parking lot was full and had overflowed to the side of the highway.
