I couldn't stay away. I hit the trail head at around 0830 this morning with the goal of making it all the way down to lower Ashland lake.

Temps were down, almost a little chilly. That said, the smoke is finally gone and the air is nice. The slight chill to the air seemed to chase off the bugs this time too (I'm still recovering from horsefly bites from my last hike here 2 weeks ago). I ran into a work party while I was out there. Hopefully this means the new pit toilets will be ready soon.

On the way out I saw a few people heading down FS4020 and FS4021 in vehicles that didn't seem like they were going to get very far (the hipster looking kid in the old minivan was our favorite). The road out there is crap and it gets worse when you hit FS2041, so please come prepared for that. Those of us in off-road vehicles can pull you out or lend a hand, but frankly we'd rather be enjoying the outdoors.
