Mount Shuksan, Lake Ann (Mount Baker Highway) — Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Shuksan in all its glory

Trail to Lake Ann is completely snow free. Many people travel this trail. Including whole families with backpacking gear. Plenty water sources along the way for you to filter. Pick your days wisely as the area is very beautiful and best enjoyed in clear days.

As for the climb to Mount Shuksan via the Fisher Chimneys, the Chimneys are snow free. Loose rock is a hazard. Winnie's Slide is still snow covered so no ice protection needed. There's a nice kicked in route up it. Getting to the Upper Curtis Glacier could be difficult as the access is quickly retreating. Hell's Highway is also snowed in and no ice protection needed. The summit pyramid has many rappel stations and they look very solid.
