North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Climbers practicing on Easton Glacier

What a hike we had on the southern flank of Mt. Baker!  This one has some of the best views anywhere, with the ice fields of Baker within spitting distance, the imposing Black Buttes, colorful Twin Sisters and even islands of Puget Sound.  But to see them all, hike and scramble as far as you can safely go, until the glacier's edge at about 6750'.  The last part involves a not-too-difficult scramble on solid rock for the most part, with only one steep section right before you come to the natural turnaround spot. On a clear day this outing is hard to top.  And you will have little company on the higher portion.
