Forgot that the game gate would be closed at NFD Rd 2361, but the weather was warm and sunny so a couple of road miles at each end of the hike was OK. The trail was in good condition and easy to follow but it will be several years before it is any more than a walk along a decommissioned road. There were two large trees across the trail but steps of piled debris had made over both of them. Autumn leaves around the lake were beautiful, but the lake itself was in sad shape. It was down ten to fifteen feet with no inlet or outlet. Cracked mud and dry, bleached moss all around it. On the other hand, the solitude that I was seeking was complete. A short, easy hike even with the road closed and the only sound heard the entire time were ravens
