Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

We came to see the Japanese Maples in particular and were not disappointed. The color right now is great although some varieties are winding down. The winter garden is starting to show its colors as well.

Lots of parking dispersed throughout the park so if the main lot is full, just keep looking. I would recommend a map as there are a lot of little trails to get turned around on. Some of it is paved, some isn't, and overall its stroller-friendly but there are stairs on some of the gravel paths.

One thing we ran into was that its a very popular place to get portraits done and I kept feeling like I was in people's way. Some areas had a line to take photos, people in formal gowns and families dressed up. It was Sunday though, and you probably wouldn't see this as much during the week.

This place is so huge and varied that its worth a visit during different seasons.
