Squire Creek Pass via Eight-mile Trail — Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Squire Creek Pass

What a fabulous hike!  This is great for those that want to get high without too much energy or time and enjoy stupendous views of Three Fingers, its lookout, Squire Creek Wall and the surrounding areas.  The fall colors were still showing, the day was warm, and the company terrific.

I was so pleased to see the work that WA Climbers Coalition, WTA and others had done on the rough trail that accesses the climbing area.  The stairs were excellent!  We were treated on top to the slabs, cairns, and 360 degree views!

Our actual destination was Higher Squire - the 4680 high point located back to the right of us.  We traversed back and up from the pass and then headed up.  Our route was just about perfect and we could see signs of no other visitors.  The summit makes for a spectacular photo!  We headed down the same way as up except that we intersected the main trail approximately 1/2 mile from the pass.
