This has been a very popular place in the summer and I wondered what it looks like in winter. However, other than a discover pass, one needs another sno-park pass (20$ for a single day). Payment can be made at the parking lot either via cash or credit card.
The trail for xc ski and snowshoe are well maintained. Other than two small trees on the snowshoe trail, which are trivial to get over with, I didn't see anything harder for a teenager. So it seems to be a very family friendly place to visit.
We did the loop for about 3 miles. The trail was almost packed. We decided to go with micro-spikes only and it seemed to be just fine. Snowshoes would made it even more trivial.
