Incredibly beautiful and enjoyable snowshoe out and back on the unplowed portion of Icicle Road. Parked where plowing ended, about 10-12 miles down road. The road is snow covered but easy to traverse thanks to snow mobiles and other users. We chose to drop down along the creek for a bit near the beginning, which was stunning with snow piled on river rocks and randomly cascading down from the trees. We followed the road out for about a mile to a large rock formation with a trail looped around it (based on the advice of a friendly local who lives near where we parked). On the back side of the formation, there is a stunning view of Icicle Creek. Highly recommend this snowshoe for beginners and friends who want to enjoy a winter wonderland close to Leavenworth. Road was icy, so traction tires are really helpful.
