The lot continues to be closed, but parking near the entrance and walking the short road to the trailhead works just fine. As we hiked it today, the first mile of trail was solid dirt trail, but the second mile was a slushy mud, which eventually turned into just snow near the top. We did the hike in normal hiking boots without ice spikes. Getting up was just fine, but the descent was a bit treacherous and slippery at times. Having at least a pole/walking stick would be helpful on the way down.
