Copper Creek Hut Snowshoe — Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise

We got invited on two open spots to spend the night at Copper Creek Hut and went for it! The road up is not a huge issue. Lots of pot holes, but any car should be able to make it. You can drive all the way to the third sno-park. Make sure to have a sno-park pass and discover pass. The trail is really a road walk the entire way and mostly straight forward. There are signs along the way but a map is also really helpful. There is just a dusting of snow the first 2 miles and then maybe up to a foot near the hut. It's all compact. We had snowshoes, but microspikes would've been just fine. The hut was busy all day with day hikers/ skiers coming in and out. We explored a little more of the area around the hut trying to get a better view of Rainier. The cabin is fully stocked for all cooking needs and kept very warm. The sunset was spectacular up there. We had a full house of 12 people + 2 ski patrol. Sleep arrangements are like hostel style in one big room. There's pancake mix and coffee available to the public, which was well appreciated. A lovely place to stay if you can snag a weekend spot!
