Mount St. Helens - Worm Flows Route — Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018

South Cascades > Mount St. Helens

We stayed in Cougar Saturday night, so we could get an early ish start on the trail today! We hopped on the trail at 7:45, slapped on our snowshoes a few miles in, and kept them on until we were a bit above 4800'. They were definitely helpful! The snow was in pretty solid shape most of the way, and was nice and frozen near the top. We reached the summit at 12:07pm, stayed for a few minutes. It was super windy and cold, so once more people joined us at the summit, we turned around and headed back down. We found it easier/safer to slide on our butts for a good portion of the trail. Made it back to the trailhead at 2:55pm! It was a gorgeous, challenging, and wonderful day to be on the mountain!
