Trip Report

Wallace Falls State Park — Monday, Feb. 19, 2018

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

We were intending to go all the way up to Wallace Lake, but we only made it to the look out on the Upper Grade Trail. Most of the Woody Trail was snow free, but there was snow and ice near the Middle and Upper falls. The Upper Grade was covered in about 6 inches of dry powder. None of us had snowshoes, but if we were to continue on the Upper Grade, they would definitely be nice to have. For the Woody Trail, Yak Tacks or Microspikes were handy, especially on the stairs and steep part of trail.

We left the trailhead at about 9 am, stopped to have lunch at the look out at about 11:30, and got back to the trailhead at 2. We didn’t see many people going down from the falls, but there were quite a few folks going up while we were going down. This was a good trail for a big group hike, but because the trail is fairly narrow, it was harder for other hikers to get by us.

An overall good hike, a bit of snow, sun, waterfalls, and views.

(All of the pictures were taken by another student on the hike, not by me)
