Today at old tester road the gate heading up was open again and the 'motorized vehicles prohibited' sign has been removed. So it looks like you can again park up top if you'd like. I chose the extra elevation and parked below at tester. Trails are great as always, expect some muddy bits.

I'm with you there - never trust an unlocked gate. I got locked in there once..
(I know for sure the lower lot is o.k., but I'll ask around about the upper one.)
