Chehalis River Discovery Trail — Saturday, Apr. 21, 2018

Southwest Washington > Lewis River Region
Yellow mustard flowers

This trail is an easy level path that goes along the Chehalis River.  The mustard flowers were blooming and the birds were making noises everywhere.   We did get to see a bald eagle.  I've been told a breeding pair have their nest not to far from the trail.

This is a perfect hike for kids.  We saw quite a few on the trail, and some had their bikes out.  If you take a right at the T, the trail goes for maybe 1/2 mile then becomes just a mowed path but it continues on for a good while after that.  We did the whole trail going both ways at the T and my phone clocked us at 3.2 miles total.

Although it isn't much of a "hike", it's a perfect trail for stretching your legs, wearing off some of your kiddos energy, and getting a little into nature without driving too far out of town.
