Looking for a new (but nearby hike) for the day, we headed down to the new Taylor Mountain trail system. The parking lot is just past the Hwy 18 overpass off of Issaquah-Hobart road (on the east side of he road). There’s a large parking lot there with great signage, printed trail maps and an outhouse.
There’s many trail systems here, depending on how far you want to walk. We decided to hike Up to the Holder Knob loop via the Holder Ridge trail. The trail itself is very nicely groomed and a nice, gentle incline to the “top”. While on the Knob loop, there’s a cut off to a picnic/horse picnic area where you can get a small view of the valley below. On the way back down, we took the road, making our trip about 4.2 miles in total.
All in all, a nice day hike, especially for us as we started late in the afternoon. One word of note, it is a multi use trail, so you will run into horses (and horse poop piles), but all in all, there was plenty of space and it wasn’t an issue for us at this time of day.
