Hiked the first 3ish miles of the lakes trail. It was my first hike with kids (10, 11, and 13) and it was overall a success. The first mile or so we overcame some fears of being up on the steep hillside with the lake below and some getting warmed up grumbles. As the trail progressed legs warmed up and fears subsided which made the water crossing around 2.5 miles easier and only required a little coaching! For adults the water crossing isn't challenging overall, if you have a trek pole or aren't afraid of getting your feet wet, but as always make sure you know your abilities and comfort zone. The clouds shielded the mountain from view but the hike was still gorgeous!
