Had a great stroll through the wildlife area this weekend! The parking lot was absolutely packed and overflowing, but the trails were not very crowded. I imagine most people do the Visitor's Center and the first little boardwalk loop. Everyone kind of goes at their own pace, so we didn't have any trouble with traffic jams or feeling like we were being crowded out of the good spots. Lots of people with strollers and wheelchairs, so it's a good accessible trail for everyone.
We went during low tide...mud almost as far as the eye could see, which has its own sort of stark beauty. It was a very clear day so Rainier was peeking over the trees. We saw herons, swallows, red-winged blackbirds, kestrels, sea lions and bald eagles as we walked, which was super cool. It was a sunny, breezy day -- perfect weather to be out on the boardwalk! Definitely bring sunscreen and a hat, as there's no shade once you get out there.
This is one I think can definitely be enjoyed over and over. I want to go back during a higher tide, and apparently it's prime eagle viewing during the salmon run.
